ABOUT BRAKE EXPERTS

Brake Experts is a blog that shares information about maintaining one of the most important features of your car — your brakes. Our goal is to help others learn about working with brakes and how to maintain them on your own or find help maintaining them when needed. Know brakes, know driving.

ABOUT ARWOOD

Thanks for visiting the blog! Although Arwood is a fictional character, the experience and stories of Arwood are real. As a former school teacher, I decided to keep my real name private. I was born and raised in the south and made my own roots as a high school teacher in Utah after graduating with a Master’s Degree from Brigham Young University in the ’70s.

After a 34-year career teaching auto mechanics, driver education, and other automotive-related courses I retired and decided to start a blog in my retirement. As I looked back over all my years of teaching I found that one of the most important and overlooked systems on cars is the braking system.

While braking systems can get complex, the vast majority of people should have some basic level of knowledge regarding the maintenance and workings of their vehicle’s brakes.

MY AUDIENCE

The information we share on this site is simply advice or information I find useful. Please speak with your mechanic to verify any information you read here. As technology changes, I still learn new things about brakes every day! However, I do our best to make sure our information is accurate and helpful.

Regardless of your experience with brakes, from seasoned mechanics to those just getting started, I hope this site helps you on your journey to understanding your car better.

MY CARS

I’ve had a lot of cars, trucks, boats, trailers, etc. over the years. From brand new cars straight off the lot to old clunkers that required extensive restoration, I’ve seen it all.

Currently, I own 3 cars, two trailers, a few four wheelers, an RV, and a tractor.
